Scanning Scrapbook Pages
If you don’t own a large format scanner, you are still able to start scanning scrapbook pages. You do this by "stitching" your page together. What that means is you will scan your page in parts (how many parts depends on the size of your scanner) and then use software to stitch the parts together. I had several albums that I wanted to do this with. I wanted my children to have a copy of their baby albums and by scanning them I am able to do so. I also have a few albums that are in the works right now and I wanted to finish them digitally. Using the stitching software, I am now able to do that.
Stitching Software
I did some research on the different photo stitch software available. There were a few, including Photoshop, but the one that I found to be the easiest to understand and operate is by
Arc Soft.
This is the one that I will be using for the stitching instructions.
How to stitch a scrapbook page
Step 1: Scan your page in parts. Depending on the size of your scanner, it may take only two scans or it could take four. Save each part with the same prefix so that it makes it easy to find.

Step 2: Click load files

Step 3: Choose files to load. Locate where you saved you scans. Select your scans. Hold down the “shift” key to select more than one file.

Step 4: Click “stitch”. This step will take a few moments, but be patient, the results are worth it.
Step 5: Save your stitched photo and you are ready to insert it in your digital scrapbooks.

It is that easy! If scanning scrapbook pages yourself is too much time to invest, then you can locate a company that has a professional photo scanner that can accommodate the large formats. Either way, there is so much you can do with your scrapbooks once they are converted. Once you have scanned your page into digital format, you will use it like a background paper in your digital books. If you wanted to add more text or graphics to your layout, you can add it right on top of the scanned page. Happy Scanning!!!!
