What is Faithbooking?
This was my question! I had heard of faithbooking before and had a basic understanding of what the term meant but had no idea of how to incorporate it into my books or even the importance of
why I should start.
The concept of faithbooking is simply scrapbooking your faith. It is to pass your faith down to future generations. This idea stems from many areas in the bible. One biblical scripture that reminds me to put my faith in writing is Joel 1:3 NIV. “Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.” Faithbooking is more than just scrapbooking. It is more than just a prayer journal. You are leaving a legacy to future generations to remind them of the love of Jesus. It is to remind them that they are children of the living God. When you write your prayers in your books and you then journal how God answered that prayer, they (and you) see, first hand, the power of prayer.
Topics to Faithbook
Childhood Stories: My children love it when I tell them the story of when they were babies lying in their cribs and it seemed as though their eyes are watching God. They would coo and smile up to the ceiling. I would tell them God would send their angels down to look after them. They just LOVED hearing these kinds of stories. It reinforces the fact that they are a child of God.
When we built our new home, we wrote "LET THE ANGELS WATCH OVER ME" above each of their doors during the framing stage and we took pictures of it. As the years go on they will not remember we did this, but when they look through their faith books they will be reminded that God always looked after them.
Immeasurable Love: Have you ever had a child take off in the mall or somewhere crowded and you can’t find them immediately? I did! When I found my daughter, instead of yelling at her for leaving all I could think of was “Thank God I found you”. Simply journaling these events will teach them that your love for them is immeasurable. Prayers: In my alone time with God in the morning, I pray for God to give me strength to go through my day. My children rarely see this so if I document my special prayers for me and for my children, it will help them in their prayer life as they get older. Dreams: Write to God your prayers, your dreams, and your hopes and prayers for the children. Your family will be blessed immensely when you share what is in your heart. Adding family pictures through faithbooking, makes your stories so much more meaningful.
Another great reason to Faithbook.......
A faith book can also be a great tool to witness to others that do not believe in God or do not have the full understanding of God. When you leave your books out on the coffee table when friends and family come over, you will be surprised how many will be pick up a book and look through it. They just might discover God through you.You will be creating your very own Christian faith books. There is no other book as powerful as the one written by you! To get started faith booking, you can simply start by incorporating biblical scripture into your current scrapbooks or you can start a faith book specifically to pass down your faith legacy.
Get kids involved!!!
